Why in Prague with prof. von Bogdandy

ALMA IURIS – podcast Právnické fakulty Univerzity Karlovy

O právu, které nadšeně studujeme, o naší fakultě, kterou milujeme, o studiu, výuce a vědě, které jsou naším posláním, o lidech, kteří jsou toho všeho smyslem. O životě, jehož je právo každodenní součástí. Zajímaví hosté, rezonující témata právnická i společenská. Nalaďte se na právo.

In this episode of the zPráva podcast, we take you to the heart of European legal scholarship — the European Law Unbound (ELU) conference in Prague, where a new academic platform is emerging to connect lawyers across Europe, disciplines, and generations. Our guest is Professor Armin von Bogdandy, one of Europe’s leading legal theorists, who discusses the purpose behind creating this new legal society, the idea of European identity, the perceived divide between “old” and “new” member states, and why Europe should embrace its diversity rather than fear it. he conversation also reaches deeper themes — the role of Central Europe today, how language shapes our perception of Europe, and whether legal academia can help strengthen European cohesion at a time of war and weakening transatlantic ties. And of course - why the ELU-S starts in Prague. Recording took place during the ELU conference 25-27 September 2025
