There are only two northern white rhinos left in the world — Najin and Fatu. Both females live at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya, where hundreds of people are involved in protecting rhinos and other wildlife.

What does it actually take to protect one of the most endangered animals on the planet? How many rangers, technologies and resources are needed to keep rhinos safe 24/7? And is there still a chance that another northern white rhino could one day be born?

In this episode, we speak with Abraham Njenga, Manager of Wildlife Operations at Ol Pejeta Conservancy. We talk about anti-poaching efforts, rhino monitoring, ranger work, expanding wildlife habitat, and the BioRescue project, which is working to save the northern white rhino from extinction.

We also discuss why conservation does not stop at the borders of a protected area, and how important local communities, wildlife corridors and individual action are for the future of Africa’s wildlife.
