Today with Ema, we delve deep into the Czech celebration of Easter, or ‘Velikonoce.’ Historically rooted in both Christian traditions, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and ancient pagan and Slavic celebrations of the arrival of spring, Easter in the Czech Republic is a vibrant blend of faith, nature, and customs. For many Czechs, the season is about nature’s rebirth after a long winter, regardless of their religious affiliations. We’ll explore unique Czech Easter traditions, from men going house to house with willow whips to painted eggs symbolizing new life.Tune in to learn more about how this beautiful country celebrates the season, and stay until the end for a well-known Easter rhyme that has echoed through Czech households for generations. To get the transcript with highlighted vocabulary, questions with answers and much more, join slowczech Lab.
