The monument we are looking at is a medieval astronomical clock called Old Town or Prague Clock. It is placed on the southern wall of the Old Town Hall tower.
The first recorded mention of the clock is from 9 October 1410. The clock's dominant figure is an astronomical dial in the middle with a calendar dial below. On the astronomical dial, which is derived from astrolabe, one can read various times, astronomical cycles, the position of the Sun and through which constellation of the Zodiac it currently goes, the position of the Moon above or below the horizon, its phase and its position in respect to the Sun.
