Crossroads: Margaret Wagana - Indigenous communities have taken the fight for climate action in East Africa into their own hands

How did civic activists in Kenya manage to stop the construction of the Lamu coal-fired power plant? How does this relate to the protection of local cultural heritage? And does this mean that East African countries are more progressive in climate protection than Central European countries? Lawyer Margaret Wagana discusses all of this in the latest episode of the podcast Crossroads. Margaret Wagana works as a conciliation judge for the Ugandan government. In addition, she is pursuing a PhD at the UOC (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya) in Barcelona, and her dissertation focuses on environmental law and climate justice in the Great Lakes region of East Africa.
